An e-book, electronic book, digital book, ebook, and eBook is a portable electronic digital book file downloaded to be read on e-Readers or e-book devices such as; Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes & Noble’s Nook, Apple’s iPad (iBooks) or similar reading device.  The Personal computers and some cell phones can also be used to read e-books.

Amazon’s Kindle is based on the Mobipocket standard, with a slightly different serial number scheme and its own DRM formatting. The eBooks bought for the Kindle are delivered over its wireless system called Whispernet.

Barnes & Noble’s Nook is based on the PDF file system and uses epub files to upload.  Barnes & Noble is in the process of opening PubIt their online service for publishers to upload, although it is not operating or open to publishers at the time of this writing.

Apple’s iPad will wow readers with their color, ease, readability, and just plain fun.  Once accepted you can upload your epub files to iBooks, Apple’s retail store for books.

There are numerous other files and e-book readers.  Check to make sure what their current method and system requirements are.  Or call Leopard Spot, Inc. to help you convert your manuscript to e-Book files.
